Bidaya Media proudly announces the launch of Season 2 of Iftah Ya Simsim

Abu Dhabi, 18 September 2017: Bidaya Media, the children’s education content development company, in association with the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, Ministry of Education, twofour54 Abu Dhabi and Sesame Workshop, have announced the launch of the second season of Iftah Ya Simsim, an educational, entertaining Arabic TV series for children produced in the GCC and available across MENA. Set to air on TV channels from 22 September 2017, the season will explore new themes, introduce new characters, and feature guest appearances from well-known Arab personalities.

With 52 entertaining episodes, the new season will include fun activities such as storytelling, games and live-action segments, all designed to enhance the Arabic language skills of young children using music, rhyme and humor. And young viewers will be thrilled to welcome the newest members of the Iftah Ya Simsim family–Elmo, the beloved red monster with an infectious giggle, and Ka’aki, the voracious blue monster with an insatiable appetite for cookies and life.

Ahead of the launch, Dr. Cairo Arafat, Managing Director of Bidaya Media, said: “After ten months of hard work by the team, we are very excited to launch the second season of Iftah Ya Simsim, created to help shape young minds across the Arab world. With our new episodes, we aim to bring together modern elements of language and learning in a fun and playful way, all while keeping children rooted in Arab heritage and values. We are very grateful to our partners who have helped us bring this season to life and hope our audience enjoys watching the show as much as we liked making it.” Bidaya Media partnered with Fayez Saeed Studios, Lammtara, 3Q, Ajyaal Media, Baynounah TV and twofour54 on the production of Iftah Ya Simsim.

Season 2 of Iftah Ya Simsim expands on the lessons of its inaugural season, with episodes that explore early vocabulary and concepts around science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM). It also promotes pivotal values such as perseverance, cooperation, team work, initiation and care.

HE Dr. Hamad Al Yahyaei, AUS – Curriculum & Assessment Sector, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Education said: “Iftah Ya Simsim objectives fall under the aim of the Ministry of Education. We both encourage holistic child development especially in science and math fields, school preparedness and empowering the use of Arabic.”

Audiences will also appreciate some well-known faces, as Iftah Ya Simsim’s new season will feature appearances by prominent personalities interacting with furry residents and children alike. The list of famous faces includes HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Cabinet Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; HE Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs of the UAE; and singers Fayez Al Saeed and Balqees Fathi, amongst many more.

Maryam Eid AlMheiri, the Chief Executive Officer of both Media Zone Authority – Abu Dhabi (MZA) and twofour54, said: “We are very proud to have been involved with the making of season two of Iftah Ya Simsim, a show that’s unique to the region, as it places young Arab children at its heart. Season 2 will begin airing on September 22, 2017 across national and private television in the GCC and MENA region
Additionally, the program will also be uploaded on Iftah Ya Simsim’s YouTube Channel.
